What Can I Expect on a Resolute
Fishing Charter?

Understandably, the idea of taking a fishing charter on the “Big Lake” can likely be an intimidating prospect for those folks new to the sport. What if I have never done this before? Will it be safe for my family? Do I need fishing gear? Will we catch anything?

Do not worry! These are all very important questions that we expect folks to ask before setting up a trip:

What if we have never been fishing before?

  • No problem! Even though the fish we catch can be quite big, the gear we use is sturdy, very easy to learn, and we will give you plenty of instruction on what to do. We take people fishing that have literally never touched a rod and reel before in their lives and they can have just as much success as the “old pros”

What happens if the weather is bad?

  • The safety and comfort of our customers is the #1 priority at Resolute Charters! If the captain determines conditions will be unsafe or too uncomfortable to fish, we will let you know in as far in advance as we can, and your deposit will either be transferred to another date or refunded

How far out will we go?

  • Where we fish will generally be determined by several factors (water temperature, wind direction, etc.). There are some days we might be right on the shoreline, while other days we may chase the fish out 20 miles! Though we will always go where we will have the best action, on average we are typically fishing within 5 or 6 miles of the shoreline

What kind of boat will we be on?

  • The RESOLUTE is a 35'  twin engine Viking Convertible Sportfish designed for rugged off-shore fishing. It has a large back deck with plenty of room for fishing, a spacious flybridge to enjoy the scenery, and a comfortable climate-controlled cabin area to relax out of the elements. We also have a full-sized private restroom with hot/cold running water. We invest in the finest in navigational and fish locating electronics to make your trip as safe and successful as possible and we utilize the best Shimano reels paired with custom Grandt trolling rods for the ultimate fishing experience!

Can I bring my kids?

  • Absolutely! Children are certainly welcome. Our policy requires that we carry all required safety equipment for children on board the RESOLUTE at all timesWhile we typically defer to the parent's judgement,  generally we recommend children be at least 8 years of age. (Please note: The US Coast Guard and the WI State DNR consider children as passengers on a charter boat whether they fish or not)

What will we catch?

  • Certainly a fair question! We catch primarily five species of fish: Coho (Silver) salmon, King (Chinook) salmon, Lake Trout, Brown Trout, and Rainbow (Steelhead) Trout. Size ranges can be from 2-3lbs to well over 30lbs! In the summer months it is almost a daily occurrence to catch fish in excess of 20lbs.

  • What we catch will depend mostly on time of year, but on any given day, it is not uncommon to catch three, four, or even all five species! The general rule of thumb is faster action with frequent limit catches, smaller average sized fish in the spring...Larger fish and more variety in the summer months.... and big fish in the fall.

  • Last season, we averaged just over 15 fish per charter for the entire season. You can be assured we will always put you on the best fishing possible! Feel free to drop us a line or give us a call or text for more specific information on fishing conditions.
