Best Fishing Times When is the best time to plan a Lake Michigan charter?
It all depends on which species you are looking to catch and whether you are looking for numbers or quality. In general, spring (May & early June) usually provides the fastest action, but the overall size of the fish is smaller. During the summer months (late June, July, & August), the action usually (but not always!) slows down a bit as the average size of the fish increases. Fall (September & October) typically provides the largest fish of the season, but again, the overall catch numbers are less. NOTE: This is not to say you can't catch large fish during the spring time or big numbers during the fall. This is only a general view of our fishing season.
